DIVINE MASCULINE AND FEMININE HEALING CIRCLE, Josie Keys
Do you want to HEAL the rift between the Masculine and Feminine? In yourself and everyone else? In this workshop, Men create the outer ring - witnessing and women are inside - receiving. Love transforms all. This is an event where the men of the festival are invited to step into their higher selves, and consciously hold the energy of the Divine Masculine. The women gather in the center and are invited to enter their Divine Feminine space of feeling and love. The circle becomes an Ancient Temple alchemical healing space.

When men show up and become the pure presence in their Divine Masculine nature and truly witness, then women can relax into their true loving Divine Feminine nature and fully become that love. As both polarities open to their Divine essence, we transmute cultural wounds in the collective feminine and masculine for all of humanity, co-creating a much needed and beautiful new story of balance.

This is a hands-off workshop. There is no touching except optional hugging at the end.

4 on the Floor a Yin Yoga class, Tara Fitzgibbon
4 on the Floor is a four yoga poses and a long guided shavasana in the yin style of yoga.

Yin Yoga is as old as traditional Hatha Yoga, it just never had a name until the 21st Century and yin yoga is fast becoming the most popular style of yoga today.
Modern day, busy lifestyles need balance. Yin is the balance to the Yang. Yin is cooling, slow, receptive and feminine in nature. Yang is heating, fast, active and masculine in nature. And the men are falling in love with this style of yoga practice too!
We teach traditional Yin Yoga and we add the timeless teachings of Tantra with a strong influence on the chakras and sequencing to awaken Kundalini energy. Hatha yoga and restorative yoga teachings are blended into some of the asanas, giving the training more than just Yin. The asanas are floor based/seated and these traditional postures are the undoing kind (Yin), not the doing kind (Yang).
Yin yoga slows us down and in turn supports our adrenals and activates our parasympathetic nervous system - the rest and digest. Most of us live in the sympathetic nervous system- the fight and flight.  This is causing so many to be unwell. In a yin class we breathe more, we rest deeper and we let go of tension and tightness. This is the key to optimal health.
A yin yoga class goes well beyond a few simple stretches.  We target the deeper layers of the body- the connective tissue, joints, fascia and bones.
We hold the poses for longer so the physical focus is much deeper than in a general yoga class and this time creates reflection of the Self.  Layer by layer, breath by breath a true letting go occurs.  Wisdom comes from letting go.
Yin yoga is a more meditative approach and I like to think of it as the undoing kind of practice.  Life is overflowing with doing, it is time to slow down and be still.
You make your way into the pose, and instead of doing, you just be.

Opening and Honouring Concert : Chris Berry, Tubby Love & Amber Lily, Franko Heke, Opening Ceremony with Delta Kay and prayer with cultures across the planet including Keshira haLev Fife
Byron Spirit Festival is thrilled to present an array of international and Australian musicians and ceremonial masters that live and give connection via their especial musical gifts.  On our Wish List for years,
We feel that these artists will undoubtedly fulfill our aim of  emancipating our community  through their blissful sounds and rousing rhythms .

At long last, Chris Berry (USA) mighty rhythm master, Shona (Zimbabwe) initiate, insanely eclectic composer, singer, dancer, multi-instrumentalist virtuoso (especially djembe and mbira), master teacher and ceremonial leader, will grace our stage on Opening Night.  He’s promised a full drumming line up so be ready to have your body rhythms permanently altered.

He’ll be joined by the divine duo of Tubby Love & Amber Lily, from Hawaii, to share  conscious lyrics and contagious melodies in their soul-stirring live show.

Kiwi Franko Heke’s fabulous fusion blends electronica and kirtan with dazzling multi-cultural influences including his native Maori and Sanskrit languages.

The Welcome to Country will be lead by Aunty Delta Kaye and the local Arakwal dancers!

The night will be interspersed with prayer and ceremony from across the planet.

Including Keshira haLev Fyfe:
Slow Down is a prayer song which takes a traditional Hebrew tune and enlivens it with English words (written by Kohenet Cedar Ranney). It is an example of how we can hold what is traditional and pour present moment resonance into it. The magic that is created can make its way into our ears, bodies and hearts as we settle into Shabbat (and our sacred festival time together)...

The Yoga of Communication: An Essential Tool of Self-Evolution, Lissie Turner
A largely forgotten tool in the yoga practice, communication sits alongside food, asana and pranayama as one of the necessary instruments of purification under the banner of tapas. In this fascinating, pragmatic and incredibly eye-opening seminar, Lissie discusses how communication is one of the most powerful tools, as well as indicators of progression, along the spiritual path of yoga. Speaking directly from the essence of the yoga sutras in relation to asana, pranyama and dharana 'The Yoga of Communication: An Essential Tool of Self-Evolution' observes the characteristics of quality communication, as well as the relationship between how we communicate with ourselves and the world around us, with the spiritual process of eradicating the karmic seeds that bring to life our samskaras.

Yoga Sutra II:36 states Satyapratisthayam Kriyaphalasrayatvam -
One who shows a high degree of right communication, will not fail in his actions. Which highlights the necessity of pure communication as both essential to the possibility of enlightenment as well as the symbol of it having been achieved.

Communication is with us all the time; in direct conversation, with other beings from afar, even when we are alone. How we interact with the world and with ourselves on all levels is transported by the vehicle of communication – it is both one of the fundamental tools to support the yoga practice on and off the mat, reinforcing the pathway of mindfulness and discipline as well as the strongest indicator of our progression. With pure communication, we not just enhance our own atmosphere but we assist in shifting the atmosphere of the planet beginning with our immediate environment – our home, workplace, social circles and the unexpected encounters we have each and every day. Few things we have at our disposal, are as powerful and as prevalent as communication, are you as mindful with it as a tool of yoga, as you could be?

In Lissie Turner’s key workshop, she looks first at the fundamentals of the human constitution – the qualities/klesas that exist within each of us as spiritual creatures having this human adventure – the things that colour our communication; both what’s coming in and what’s going out. In recognizing these fundamentals, we can begin to separate them from our real truth and start to communicate and interact in ways much more reflective of our true selves and of our path to become incrementally better each and every day.

This workshop is a fascinating look at self – it facilitates each student turning their gaze deeply inward to see what is obstructing the progression forwards to more authentic and connecting communication, looking then at what tools can be used to make the shifts, setting the ‘hanam’ – the goal – and beginning to walk toward it.

Involving asana, pranayama, meditation and discussion components, this will alter the way you look at communication from that moment forwards. Embracing it as an exciting and ever-existing tool of self-evolution on the yoga path.

Combining two decades of communication experience with 20 years of study in yoga and yoga therapy, Lissie reflects on the ancient texts of yoga to helps others to become aware of the powerful tool of transformation that's just sitting there, right at the tip of the tongue.

Plunge awake into primordial brain-scapes. Excavate. Unearth. Dredge. Open. Open mouth. In the remainder of what was - is precious fuel for what is. In the pit of the root bulb is the dark matter and energy that enfolds and unfolds the secrets of selfhood. What will we do here together? Simple yogic movements, simple, un-technical sounds. Simply listening. Simply giving yourself the time to see what arises most naturally, when you release the brakes.

5 Element Qigong- Elements and Influences, Toby & Renato
The Ziran Qigong '5 Element' form uses flowing cyclical movement integrated with breath and awareness of the bodys' energy meridians to harmonises and revitalise.

The theory describes the relationships between different elements of nature and the constantly occurring phenomena of change and can be applied to the body for understanding and diagnosis.

The specific characteristics of the five elements influence us in different ways, and are associated with organs, behaviours and emotions. We can learn to identify and work with these influences for greater harmony and wellbeing.

Connect with your Divine Feminine with Chandra Namaskar (Moon Flow Yoga), Jemma Rivera
Within you the divine feminine qualities are awakened as you honour her through the practice of chandra namaskar. In sanskrit, chandra means “Moon”, moon flow yoga is ideally practiced at night and especially during full moon, intended to be cooling and soothing, the opposite to Sun salutations that are more energising and warming. Sun/ha Moon/tha. The moon is considered yin/feminine and the sun is masculine/yang. This practice is ideal if you want to slow down especially during the full moon, new moon or during winter season and a great way to tune in to your natural feminine essence.

Jemma is excited to share the musical talents of Haitch in this workshop, providing blissful soundscapes to help you dive deeper into your Heart and Soul. His inspiration comes from many world cultures for instruments, his uniqueness lies in the moving fusion created with both uncommon and classical instruments. We’re both looking forward to creating a divine and memorable experience with you.

Raising the Phoenix'- What is Taoist sexual energy cultivation anyway?, Tora Crockford
The beautiful 'Raising the Phoenix' Qigong form is informed by Chinese meridian theory and supports improved function of the female endocrine system.

Practiced as a series of flowing movements connected with the breath, the form aligns with other Taoist Qi cultivation methods in a higher intention to support the conservation of special energy known as jing. Jing is the creative, generative essence that builds Qi to nourish our vitality, both physical and spiritual. Jing is produced by the sex organs, major players of the endocrine system and is connected to hormone production and regulation.

Understanding the role of the endocrine system helps us work in harmony with our natural cycles towards a greater sense of well being.

Arm Balancing and Inversions for All Levels

Arm Balances and Inversions can be some of yoga’s most challenging yet fun poses to practice. Learn to safely defy gravity, starting with a single breath. In this workshop you will strengthen your core to better support your arm balances. Build upper body strength which will help support and build healthier wrists, elbows and shoulders. Engage the legs, so they don’t take refuge in Savasana. Begin cultivating awareness of your body being upside down and moving through space, while surfing from one pose to another. Yoga should be satisfying and fun, not a chore. This workshop will launch you there. This very fun workshop is accessible for beginners, intermediate/advanced practitioners and teachers who want to learn how to teach newer students the foundations and set up of arm balancing and provide safe up leveling for the advanced practitioner. E-MOTION YOGA, Johnathon Dao
What is E-MOTION YOGA and how does it differ from other styles of Yoga?
Dr Johnathon Dao MD(AM) is the founder of E-motion Yoga, and has been teaching Yoga & Qigong for over 2 decades with an emphasis on emotional healing . While during a 10 year permanent stint in India studying Ayurveda, Yoga and other Sacred healing arts he stumbled across an ancient movement that appears to be the oldest medicine on earth which he shares with E-motion Yoga.

E-motion Yoga is a revolutionary form of yoga that helps the body to detoxify emotional baggage such as suppressed & trapped emotions that often result in health problems and or trauma which are associated with psychological conditions and physical health concerns.

E-motion Yoga is a fun bodily process to compliment traditional talk therapies, yet unlike traditional psychotherapies E-motion Yoga aims to release the past without having to talk about the event, go into the “story” or re-experience the past.  This method creates a safe environment for one to discharge emotional stress from the nervous system and heal wounds from the past without drama.

E-motion Yoga is a synthesis or Yoga, Qigong, Breath-work, Shaking medicine, Dance and Music to release shock or trauma from the body and assist in processing and healing blocked or trapped emotions in our nervous system and subconscious allowing a safe place for the heart to feel, heal and open to love.

E-motion Yoga provides a safe method to release trapped and repressed emotions, cutting stress & anxiety at the root within the amygdala through an ancient traditional method; “healing the mind through the body”!
  • RELEASE TRAPPED/SUPPRESSED EMOTIONS SAFELY
  • HEAL TRAUMA AND RELEASE THE PAST
  • REDUCE STRESS AND ANXIETY
  • GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD AND INTO YOUR HEART
  • FREE YOURSELF FROM DIS-EASES CAUSED BY STRESSFUL EMOTIONS
Videos about E-motion Yoga are found on the website www.e-motionyoga.com

AcroYoga is a practice that attracts a community of adventure seekers who believe we stay young at heart from playing. Playing stimulates us physically and mentally, and those that play together grow together.

AcroYoga is a blend of three enduring practices: yoga for flexibility of body and mind, acrobatics for agility and strength building and Thai Massage to balance the active and dynamic with nurturing therapy. This combination cultivates trust, connection and fun. Our ambition is to inspire individuals to realise not only their own highest potential but the joy that arises from two coming together as one. We move slowly to create a safe space, to hear the whispers of balance, support and surrender.

Yoga meets Chinese Medicine, Gwyn Williams
Less of THIS , more of this

THIS is the hand held tight...a clenched fist, a wanting , a grasping , a contraction.
' this ' is a hand falling open , a trust, an openness , a spaciousness , a freedom.

To bring our awareness to where we are caught and rather than TRY to be uncaught, just notice where the fixations and limiting patterns exist to effortless let them fall away.

This class will look at Postural patterns, the lungs and large intentine meridians and invite you to be courageously honest...using the tools of Breath , movement and mindful touch .

Cuddle Party, Jessica Butterfly
A hug is a near universal form of physical intimacy, in which two people put their arms around the neck, back, or waist of one another and hold each other closely. If more than two persons are involved, this is referred to as a group hug. A hug, sometimes in association with a kiss, is a form of nonverbal communication. Depending on culture, context and relationship, a hug can indicate familiarity, love, affection, friendship or sympathy.

A hug can be given as an indication of support, comfort, and consolation, particularly where words are insufficient. A hug is usually a demonstration of affection and emotional warmth, sometimes arising out of joy or happiness at meeting someone or seeing someone that they have not seen in a long time. A non-reciprocal hug may demonstrate a problem in the relationship. A hug can range from a brief one-second squeeze, with the arms not fully around the partner, to an extended holding. The length of a hug in any situation is socially and culturally determined. In the case of lovers, but not others, the hips may also be pressed together.

Unlike some other forms of physical intimacy, a hug can be practiced publicly and privately without stigma in many countries, religions and cultures, within families, and also across age and gender lines, but is generally an indication that people are familiar with each other. Moving from a handshake (or touch-free) relationship to a hug relationship is a sign of a new friendship.

ANANDA MANDALA ~ Awakening the Kundalini Fire, Beata Alfoldi

In this dynamic workshop we will experience the ancient yogic practice of the Ananda Mandala. It is a very powerful breathing technique particularly effective in activating the chakras and awakening the Kundalini (primal life force). Ananda means “joy” and Mandala means “circle”.

Ananda Mandala involves a combination of rhythmic rapid breathing with a progressive meditation on the 7 chakras. This unique combination of breathing and meditation serves as a powerful tool to awaken the Kundalini energy. It allows the release of energetic blocks in the body and the release of emotions associate with these blocks.

What will you experience?
* A deep and intense connection with your body, breath and life force
* The release of old emotions
* Powerful energies flowing through your body
* Awareness of where you are ’stuck’ in your energetic field

Yin Yoga Sound Journey, Kaya Slater; Dave Massie
Join us for a unique combination of Yin Yoga, a (slow deep yoga) , and powerful live music and deeply transformative sounds made from numerous healing instruments, and in particular the captivating and hypnotic sounds of the steel pan/ hand pan.
The handpan is a unique and magical instrument that infuses aspects of a harp and steel pan with a percussive vibe to produce a very beautiful, relaxing, meditative and resonance.  These singing steel creations are truly captivating and the sounds created lull you into deep space of inner awareness and profound connection with self.
Yin yoga takes place at a slow pace, with postures and asanas often lasting for five minutes or longer. It is a highly meditative form of yoga, with many physical and mental benefits. Although still a relatively uncommon form of yoga in the west, Yin yoga has become increasingly popular in recent years.
The concept of Yin yoga has been around for thousands of years. Holding yoga poses for a significant amount of time has always been crucial to yoga practice, both in the Hatha and Taoist traditions. Some teachers have suggested that Yin yoga is actually the oldest form of Hatha yoga, pointing out the fact that they are both effective methods of prolonged meditation that aid in physical. The healing affects of Yin Yoga are completely transformational and profound.
Additional healing sounds will come from a range of drums, Crystal Bowls, cymbals , shakers, amongst other awesome instruments within Dave's collection.

Vinyasa Hips & Twists Workshop for All Levels, Les Leventhal
It’s time to liberate your hips and free your spine. Opening the hips begins by cultivating awareness of the challenges we hold in our hips and pelvic region. We can begin to relax and strengthen the quads, the inner and outer muscles of the thighs and stretch the hamstrings. While unlocking this area of our bodies we will also free the spine with twists which can infuse the body with vitality and well being and release enormous amounts of tension.

Twists are associated with toning and rejuvenating the abdominal and pelvic regions. When these regions are engaged, blood flow naturally increases and toxins are released – a natural internal massage. Relaxing and strengthening these areas releases lower back tension and frees limitation in the neck and shoulders. This very fun workshop is great for beginners, intermediate/advanced practitioners and teachers who want to learn how to up level in creative ways and also provide a safe foundation for their beginning students.

SACRED UNION - SEXUALITY AND LOVE, Josie Keys
Do you have a deep yearning in your heart to meet your Beloved? Do you have a romantic feeling about the words Sacred Union? Do you want to engage with the magical energy of Divine Relationship? Sacred Union is holy, beautiful and profound. The search for the Beloved, sometimes called a Twin Flame, starts in our own being, integrating the energy of the Healed Masculine with the Healed Feminine. This IS possible, personally and collectively. First we must embrace the Beloved within us, experiencing the marriage our own inner masculine and feminine. Through this wonderful alchemy of the union of opposites, we find ourselves connected to the Divine within and without, experiencing all life as Holy. We become ready to bring in our Divine Soulmate.
'Sacred Union - Sacred Sexuality and Love’ is for partners or singles. There is no nudity but some sensual energy is exchanged.

Resurrection, Umā
What does it take to come back in one whole piece having soared and died to your self again and again? What does it mean to transmute the leaden weight of worldly strife into the infinitely, incorruptible rewards of the life of a human-divine? What will we do here together in such a short time? Simple, yogic and spontaneous type movements and sounds called forth through the Kundalini Tantric practices of Laya Yoga and Tattva Shuddhi. In this experiential and practical earth-centred workshop, we will explore (through the beat of the medicine drum and deep imagery), the animal guides that reside in your 7 energetic centres (chakras).

The Totem Pole Process was developed by Dr Eligio Stephen Gallegos and is a unique blend of the theory of active imagination which was created by Dr. C. G. Jung, the Eastern theoretical orientation which understands the human being as a system of interrelated energies (or chakras), and the Native American practice of speaking to and learning from the animal kingdom.

As you interact with each of your Animal Guides, you will:
* Discover strengths you didn’t know you had
* Receive wisdom from your animal allies
* Clear any challenges you are currently facing
* Cultivate a deeper understanding of your energy centres
